Although its been awhile since I have posted anything, I have been to a couple of differe
nt wineries these past few months. In February I went to 2 wineries with my daughter & son-in-law. We were headed to St. Louis for the weekend, but we left early so we could stop at a few local wineries along the way.
nt wineries these past few months. In February I went to 2 wineries with my daughter & son-in-law. We were headed to St. Louis for the weekend, but we left early so we could stop at a few local wineries along the way.
First we went to Mt. Vernon IL., at GenKota Winery. This winery is located right along the interstate with a very nice large wrap around porch. Inside you will find a wide variety of unique gifts, along with a quaint seating area. They also have another larger room for special events.
They have a nice selection of wine, along with different cheeses & crackers for you to enjoy! The weather was warm that day so we were able to enjoy a bottle of wine, outside on their beautiful porch!
Our next stop was Hidden Lake Winery in Carlyle IL. This beautiful winery is "hidden" in the country, in the small town on Aviston IL. My husband Jim & I have been here several times, & every time we go here, we are never disappointed. Hidden Lake offers a wide variety of great wines. They also have a beautiful gift shop, & a large banquet center, where they feature weekend brunches, along with a wide variety of entertainment! Guest can also sit outside by the lake & enjoy the waterfall, while sharing a bottle of wine, & listening to some local entertainment! If you are ever in central Il., stop by & visit these 2 great wineries & see what they have to offer!
