New Winery

Copper Dock Winery

Today while me husband were coming home from St. Louis, we decided to stop at a new winery that I had heard about on Facebook.  Copper Dock Winery just opened up about 7 weeks ago.  Located just of I-70,  off the Pocahantas exit neat St. Louis MO.  The winery is in the country, with a beautiful view of their pond.  Their friendly staff did a wonderful job, making sure the customers were well taken care of.  Along with may great wines, they offered a full bar.  They also provide a full menu, with many great appitizers & sandwiches to choose from.  We enjoyed our drinks while listening to great live music.

Local Wineries

Although its been awhile since I have posted anything, I have been to a couple of differe

Elks Wine Trail

Well our wine """ Elks Wine Trail" was quite a success! Even though the weather was rainy, we were determined to have a good time. We were able to visit 3 wineries. Our first winery was Vahling's Vineyards. A small winery located on a small farm, makes for a very peaceful setting. The tasted many great wines & sat outside to enjoy a few bottles of wine.
Out next stop was Willow Ridge Winery, located in Hibdon Il. This winery is also in the country. Their beautiful tasting room, has a relaxed atmosphere. They also have a larger room where they sometime have great music for you listening pleasure! We had a lot of fun here laughing & sharing great stories! Our third & last winery we visited was Niemerg's Family Winery in Il. This winery is located in a former grocery store. This beautiful old building makes for a great place for a winery! The Niemerg family has done a great job renovating this old building

Sunday Day Trip

Last October we once again headed to Shelbyville Il., to Willow Ridge Winery.  We brought along some friends of ours who had never been their.   That afternoon they had an Acoustic Country Guitar Singer.  Willow Ridge Winery usually has some great entertainment about once or twice a month.  This young singer was fun to listen to, we had a great time singing along, while we drank some great wine.  We always see a lot of people we know when we are their, which make the visit all the more enjoyable!

In the later part of November, we brought another couple along to the winery.  Willow Ridge was there "Holiday Open House".  Along with their great wine, they had a wide variety of snacks & finger food.  We sat back & enjoyed the music of "Bottled Up".  This 3 piece band is one of our favorite bands that we like to listed to.  With their relaxed style of music, they like to get a lot of audience participation.  So you are sure to have a great time!

                                                                                                                        Cheers!

Summer Wineries

Hi, well summer is almost over. Although we went to just a few wineries, we had s0me enjoyable memories.

We we took out friends to Vahlings Winery, in Stewardson IL. we had fun trying different wines. Vahlings Winery has a very relaxing atmosphere, which makes for a very nice time.

We also went to one of my favorite wineries near Shelbyville Il. Both times that we went to this winery, they had a small local band that played alot of great music. Willow Ridge Winery is out in the country, & every time we bring different friends their, they always are amazed at the warm atmosphere that this winery provides.

We also took a vacation in the Dominican Republic this summer. Although we did not visit any wineries, we did drink some of their local wine. Basically they served two types of wine. A dry red wine, & a dry white wine. I was not a big fan of the red wine, But the white wine was pretty good as long as it was cold. I would compare the white wine to a Peno Grego.

Our next winery excursion will be in September. Where we will be taking a group of friends to some of our favorite wineries. I'm sure I will have many stories to tell, after that wine trip.

Happy Tasting

About 2 months we went to three wineries in the Olney & Lawrenceville area. We went with my daughter & her husband, along with some of their friends.
First we went to Fox Creek Vineyards right outside of Olney Il. This nice winery is small, but we soon discovered some great tasting wine. We tried many different wines, while my husband prefers the dryer wines, I was enjoying the sweeter wines. The owners were very friendly. After making a few purchases, we were on our way to the next winery.
Lasata Winery is located in Lawrenceville IL. This beautiful winery is a nice place for family & friends to meet. T
hey also have an outdoor patio for special occasions, or you can sit outside & enjoy nature all around you. They have a lot of great wine to choose from. When we see the owners, at a local wine tasting event. They always have a smile on their face & great wines for us to try.
White Owl Winery was the last stop of the day. Located just outside of Birds IL. They have many different wines to choose from. While my husband enjoyed the dryer wines, my favorite is Sweet Liberty Red. While the name sounds sweet, I would call it more of a semi-sweet wine.
On Sundays they sometimes have musicians playing Celtic music. The musicians were not there that day, I've heard them play the first time I visited the winery. They were a lot of fun to listen to.
We had a great time exploring the different wineries, & making new friends along the way!

Happy Tasting,
